Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since she disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1.
She is presumed to have been abducted from her isolated desert home, where blood belonging to the octogenarian was found. The FBI recently released doorbell camera footage of a masked person wearing gloves and holstering a gun near the front door, which they believe to be the perpetrator.
According to Fox News Digital, Google Trends records indicate there was one search for Nancy’s home address sometime between June 21 and 28, 2025, made by someone in Arizona. The Catalina Foothills address was searched again once on Jan. 11, 2026.
Two different Google Image searches for Nancy’s Tucson address were also found, with one occurring between March 1 and 8, 2025, and the other around November 30 or December 1, 2025. The latter was specifically searching for photos or a map of the property.
Along with the address, “Savannah Guthrie salary” was Googled from Tucson between December 13 and 20, 2025.
The 55-year-old television personality is estimated to be worth around $40 million, earning an $8 million salary from her TODAY hosting job, which may be a motive behind the potential kidnapping, though police have not publicly confirmed their theories on why Nancy would be a target.
No suspects have been publicly named in connection with her disappearance, though several people have been detained and questioned, and DNA evidence is being tested to narrow down the search.
Multiple ransom notes with various demands have been received by authorities, including four that were delivered to TMZ, says Harvey Levin, founder of the entertainment news organization.
The fourth and latest e-mail was announced on Monday, February 16, and contained the same bitcoin address as the previous three letters. The sender is asking for $50,000 in cryptocurrency in exchange for information on Nancy’s whereabouts.
They are reportedly not coming forward publicly because they claim to have a burglary charge on their record from 10 years ago and are afraid to be implicated in the kidnapping.
The FBI says they are looking for a man between 5’9″ and 5’10” tall, who was seen wearing a 25-liter “Ozark Trail Hiker Pack” backpack in doorbell camera footage.
