  • His montage included film roles, personal photos, and was captioned: “A little 90s time capsule.”
  • Fans celebrated Esposito’s looks and the never-before-seen photos.

A video montage trend is making the rounds on social media that Hollywood celebrities are having fun taking part in, like legendary actor Giancarlo Esposito. The Usual Suspects star has gained over three million views sharing throwback photos of himself in the 90s.

Fans have been hit with the ultimate form of nostalgia with a social media trend where people post a current video of themselves with the title “Papa, what were you like in the 90s?” before stitching together a series of old photos of themselves from the era. Esposito took part in the fun and shocked fans with some of the most jaw-dropping throwbacks of his career on Instagram.

He captioned the video with, “A little 90s time capsule. Different decade, same spirit. Grateful for every step of the journey.”

The Breaking Bad actor’s first photo was of him showing off his chiseled physique in the role of Esteban in the 1994 film Fresh, where he costarred alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Sean Nelson, and N’Bushe Wright. He also included personal photos of himself in the 90s, sporting long hair, on-screen roles, and some of his most iconic characters.

One of the throwbacks was his role in the Spike Lee Oscar-nominated movie Do the Right Thing. Esposito played the role Buggin’ Out in the 1989 film, alongside an ensemble list of Hollywood actors. The viral video was paired with the Goo Goo Dolls‘ most signature hit track, “Iris.”

Esposito taking part in the viral trend had astounded longtime fans, with one commenting on X, “the finest gentleman of all the Gentlemen, Giancarlo Esposito has blessed us with his 90s time capsule.”

“I’m so glad I watched this – I figured this was an AI trend, so I hadn’t watched any of them… he was so interesting with long hair!! Never saw him wear it that long,” said another.

Fans on Instagram couldn’t help but be enamored by the actor’s looks that have only gotten better with age, as one fan commented, “Been fine, is fine, will stay… fine,” and “I mean. Top Tier skill and beauty.”

The trend has even caused some fans to make their own videos, with one video of Freddie Prinze Jr. showcasing some of his most iconic photos from red carpets and movie roles.
