What’s happening in arts this March in Modesto? Entertainment, other community events across the city

Modesto has lots to offer for folks looking to enjoy the warming weather as we enter spring this March. Here’s a look at the major arts happenings including concerts, plays and other community events to check out this month.

Sunday, March 1

Chris Isaak: Grammy-nominated singer, actor and Stockton native returns to Modesto with his longtime band Silvertone.

Friday, March 6

Mexican Regional Bands: Montez De Durango, Grupo Exterminador and Los Bondadosos will play during a night of dancing and music for those 21 years and older.

Youth For Christ Comedy Night: Clean comedians Kerri Pomarolli, Brent Redd and Glory Magana perform a family friendly event.

Central West Ballet: Modesto ballet company presents “Creations: Dancing in America,” a piece that celebrates the country’s 250 anniversary.

The Selena Experience: Live musicians cover songs of the beloved late “Queen of Tejano Music” Selena.

Artist Lab: Award-winning playwright Nick Zagone presents a one-act play writing workshop. Zagone is also the Theater Practitioner at California State University, Stanislaus.

Friday, March 13

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time: The Gallo Center Repertory Company presents this Tony and Olivier award-winning play about a 15-year-old autistic boy who investigates the murder of his neighbor’s dog.

  • Opens 7 p.m. March 13, runs through March 22. Friday shows at 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

Pixar in Concert: The Modesto Symphony Orchestra performs music from Pixar classic films.

Tyler Henry – The Hollywood Medium: Tyler is a medium who says he can communicate with the other side and performs audience readings.

The Naked Magicians: This 18+ adults only show features two magicians from Australia who perform a “naughty” night of magic.

Willie Barcena: The 20-year comedy veteran’s material spans family, religion, race, sex and politics.

Stop Kiss: Prospect Theater presents the 1998 play by Diana Son, originally starring Jessica Hecht and Sandra Oh in the leading roles of the off-Broadway production.

Red Hot Chili Pipers: A nine-piece ensemble consisting of pipers, guitarists, keyboards and drummers perform a bagpipe rock show.

48 Hour Film Competition Premiere: A two-hour live event showcases the Top 16 films of the Valley film competition, selected from all submissions created during a 48-hour filmmaking weekend in and around Modesto.

Inter-Tribal Powwow: Modesto Junior College will host the 2026 event on its east campus. This year’s theme is “Tradition is our medicine; Knowledge is our fire,” and will feature vendors, cultural resources and more.

Home Grown Farewell Concert: The famed Modesto-area trio of Michael Lingg, Bruce Johnson and Patrick Durr got their start playing together in July of 1973 “to play a little music for the summer.” Fifty-three years later the group celebrates its musical journey with a farewell show.
