The 98th Academy Awards air tonight at 7 p.m. ET on ABC, with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners leading all films with a record 16 nominations. Here’s the full list of nominees heading into Oscar night.

Sinners, starring Michael B. Jordan, broke the all-time record for nominations previously shared by three films at 14. Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another is close behind with 13 nods. Wicked: For Good, meanwhile, was shut out entirely.

Coogler’s supernatural thriller surpassed the previous 14-nomination mark set by All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land. Coogler, Jordan and Wunmi Mosaku were each nominated in their respective directing, writing and acting categories.

Coogler said he “did not have any expectations” heading into Hollywood’s awards season.

“For me, people just showing up to the movies and having a good time, that would’ve been enough,” he told Deadline.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another received 13 nods, including four for actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn, as well as Best Picture. Warner Bros., which produced Sinners and One Battle After Another, led all studios with 30 nominations. Netflix and Neon tied for second with 18 apiece.

The other nominees for Best Picture were Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and Train Dreams.

Nominees in the newly added Casting category were Sinners, One Battle After Another, Hamnet, Marty Supreme and The Secret Agent.

Jon M. Chu’s Wicked: For Good, the sequel to 2024’s Wicked, did not receive a single Oscar nomination. The original film received 10 nods, winning two.

Another big-budget franchise film, James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash, received just two Oscar nominations. The original Avatar received nine Oscar nods, winning three; the follow-up, Avatar: The Way of Water, earned four nominations, winning one.

There were other snubs and surprises too.

Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein earned nine Oscar nominations, but del Toro did not receive one for directing.

Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value also received nine Oscar nominations, the most for any Norwegian film. But it was not nominated in the Casting category, despite four of its actors getting nods.

Timothée Chalamet became the youngest actor since Marlon Brando to receive three best-actor Oscar nominations. The Marty Supreme star, who turned 30 in December, was nominated for best actor alongside Jordan, DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon) and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent). Brando won his first Oscar in 1955, at age 31. Chalamet has yet to win one.

Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue) received her second Oscar nomination and first since 2001, when she was recognized for her breakout turn in Almost Famous.

Taylor, who received her first Oscar nomination for her supporting role in One Battle After Another, said she was “humbled” by the recognition. “To be an Academy Award nominee is beyond anything I ever allowed myself to fully believe was possible,” Taylor said in a statement. “My career has been filled with battles, doubts, and moments of deep uncertainty. It has felt like one long fight for space, for respect, and for opportunity.”

She added: “Today feels like a soft, beautiful ‘yes’ from the universe.”

Other first-time nominees included Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Elle Fanning (Sentimental Value) and Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein).

“IS THIS REAL!?!?!?! IS THIS A DREAM!?!?!?!” Fanning wrote on Instagram. “I can’t catch my breath. I am in absolute shock.

Byrne also celebrated the nomination on Instagram, where she shared screenshots of herself reacting to the news during a FaceTime call with her husband, Bobby Cannavale.

The 98th Academy Awards ceremony airs tonight from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and broadcast live at 7 p.m. ET on ABC. Conan O’Brien returns as host for the second consecutive year.
