Google Home has launched another set of updates for its new Gemini voice experience, addressing pain points in media playback and playlists, notes, and more.
Detailed on Google’s ongoing changelog, the latest batch of Gemini for Home improvements will focus on media & playlist support, notes & lists, better overall understanding, and parental controls.
Starting with media, Google is addressing a long-time pain point with selecting playlists for playback through its voice assistant. Google says Gemini is now better at figuring out what playlist you want even if you don’t say it exactly right. Other “music misunderstandings” should also be improved, such as errors around incorrect artists.
- Improved Playlist Recognition: Gemini is now better at identifying your personal playlists, even if you don’t get the name exactly right, or the room is a bit noisy.
- Try saying: “Play my Workout playlist” or “Play my Liked Music”
- Enhanced Accuracy: We’ve tuned our models to reduce “incorrect artist” errors and other music misunderstandings.
- Better media controls: Gemini is now more responsive when you say “pause.”
Google further details that Gemini is getting a boost for notes and lists. Gemini will now be able to manage your existing lists, while also supporting more advanced commands around lists. Based on Google’s examples, it sounds like you’ll be able to do a lot more without issuing multiple commands or using specific language.
- More Flexible Editing: Manage your lists with more natural language and versatility. Gemini is much better at identifying which list to show / update, and applying updates to existing notes.
- Do More in a Single Step: You can now ask Gemini to perform more advanced tasks, like turning a note into a list or clearing out specific categories of items or moving them from one list to another.
- Reliable Management: We’ve fixed several issues where Gemini might have claimed a list or note didn’t exist or failed to sync voice updates with what you see on your screen.

- “Add ‘Meeting went well’ to my Journal note”
- “Change this note to a list”
- “What lists do I have?”
As has been a part of every recent Gemini for Home update, Google says the voice assistant will continue to have “better understanding” through “context clues” and the cadence of your speech.
Simple questions about the date and time are also getting faster.
Better Understanding and Faster Date & Time Responses
- Reduced Interruptions: We’ve refined how Gemini detects when you’re finished speaking by taking into account how fast you’re talking. This helps Gemini capture your entire command on the first try, making every interaction feel more natural and accurate.
- Improved intent accuracy through contextual understanding: Gemini combines context clues to better understand your intent, so it can choose the right action, whether controlling a device, playing media, or setting an alarm—ensuring reliable, consistent results.
- Try saying: “Turn on the bedroom lights,” “Play some upbeat music,” or “Set a pizza timer for 12 minutes.”
- Faster response times for date & time: For straightforward questions like a date or time, we’ve optimized Gemini’s response to get you these answers faster.
- Try asking: “What time is it?” or “What’s the date?”
This latest update further includes support for parental controls on Gemini for Home. Using digital wellbeing features in the Home app, parents can limit screen time or schedule quiet periods for “supervised accounts or guests.”

Finally, there’s an assortment of bug fixes including:
- Making live streams faster for Nest Cameras on the Google Home app for iOS
- Improved image quality when scrolling Nest Cam history on iOS
- “Polish” for thermostat settings to “help professional installers accurately save advanced configurations”
These updates are rolling out now via the Google Home app.
