Jada Pinkett Smith addressed claims from Will Smith’s alleged ex-friend, Bilaal Salaam, in new court documents responding to his $3 million lawsuit.
As reported by TMZ, Jada responded to Bilaal’s allegation that he experienced weight gain, lost a romantic relationship, and was forced to flee the country after the actress’s family made threats towards him. Jada has questioned the apparent lack of evidence pointing towards any emotional distress in new legal documents.
She has asked for any medical records or third-party health professionals that would suggest any loss of relationship or apparent weight gain is due to the emotional distress her family caused. In the lawsuit, Bilaal alleged that Jada and the rest of her family criticized and threatened him publicly after she was informed that he was writing a memoir that would feature previously undisclosed information about her husband.
Jada asserted that the claims in the lawsuit are “false, uncorroborated and made to generate attention as part of an ongoing public campaign of harassment.” She additionally claimed that she never made comments about Bilaal in public, contrary to his claims in the initial lawsuit.
Sources reported in December last year that the couple is “really mad” about the lawsuit, and believed the case is baseless and financially motivated. Will and Jada believe the complaint is “a money ploy,” with one insider characterizing Salaam as “an opportunistic person out to exploit” the couple, sources told People.
