Kellie Pickler did not just make a rare appearance on Monday; she did it in front of the entire country on “American Idol.”
The country music star, who competed on Season 5 of the reality show, performed a duet on the show alongside Hannah Harper.
Fans loved to see it.
“My heart burst when I saw @kelliepickler back on stage,” one person replied to American Idol’s Instagram post featuring video of the performance.
“(Kellie Pickler’s) voice feels like home!” another person replied. “Love seeing her sing.”
“OMG it’s so good to see Kellie,” another wrote. “We miss seeing you (Kellie Pickler). Glad to hear you sing.”
There were plenty more comments like that and you can see them as well as the performance here.
Pickler has avoided making many public appearances during the past three years, and it is easy to understand why that might be.
She lost her husband, songwriter Kyle Jacobs, when he died by suicide in 2023.
That type of tragedy can be tough to overcome, and dealing with it in the public eye is not always ideal.
But on Monday, she returned to the show she competed on 20 years ago.
Pickler, 39, was a finalist during her time on the show.
Suggest.com said that Pickler’s appearances have been “extremely rare” since Jacobs’ death.
She performed at the Patsy Cline tribute show at the Ryman Auditorium in 2024.
Pickler was 19 when she made it onto “American Idol” in 2005. She finished sixth that season, but that didn’t stop her from rising to fame in country music.
Her first album, “Small Town Girl,” was released in 2006 and sold nearly a million copies.
She has released a total of four albums, with the last, “The Woman I Am,” released in 2013.
