From shopping local for Mother’s Day gifts to hands-on workshops and live entertainment, Laredo residents will have a variety of ways to spend the weekend.

Here are five events happening across the city this weekend.

Saturday, 1 p.m., Laredo Film Society, 510 San Agustin Ave., Suite B

Laredo Film Society is inviting residents to learn the basics of working with a Sony FX30 through a hands-on workshop designed for filmmakers, documentary shooters and content creators. Filmmaker Jaiziel Hernández Máynez will lead the workshop, covering topics beyond basic camera functions, including color science, gamma options, codecs and recording formats.

Saturday, 6-9 p.m., Golondrina Food Park, 10211 Golondrina Dr.

Phoenix Rising is hosting a digital vision board event with a laid-back, come-as-you-are atmosphere at Golondrina Food Park, inviting residents to map out goals for the remainder of the year. Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop, tablet or phone, along with books they would like to donate or trade during an optional on-site book swap.

Sunday, 7 p.m., 1414 Rosario St.

Razko Entertainment Productions is bringing live professional wrestling to Laredo this weekend with its “Momma Said Knock You Out” event. Admission is $10, while mothers receive free entry. Matches begin at 7 p.m.

Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Manufactured Housing Consultants – Laredo, 5221 S. Zapata Highway

Manufactured Housing Consultants – Laredo is inviting residents to shop local during its Mother’s Day Pop-Up event, featuring local vendors, live music and family-friendly activities.

Saturday, 4-5 p.m., Sophie Christen McKendrick, Francisco Ochoa & Fernando A. Salinas Branch Library, 1920 Palo Blanco St.

Children ages 5 and older are invited to explore science, technology, engineering and math through hands-on activities during STEM Saturdays. Activities may include creative building challenges, experiments, coding games and more. Registration is required at laredolibrary.org.
