Tiffany Trump did not publicly recognize her stepmother, Melania Trump, on Mother’s Day.
On Sunday, May 10, the youngest daughter of U.S. President Donald Trump posted a touching tribute to her mother, Marla Maples, on Instagram. In her story, she shared a throwback photograph showing Marla cradling baby Tiffany, now 32, who was wearing a bubblegum pink dress and matching hat, while her grandmother, Laura Ann Locklear, stood beside them.
“Happy Mother’s Day @itsmarlamaples I’m so grateful for you everyday! I love you,” Tiffany wrote. She then posted a video featuring her son, Alexander Trump Boulos, without making any reference to her stepmother Melania, 56.
Speculation has persisted for years regarding tension between Tiffany and Melania. These rumors intensified when the First Lady was notably absent from Tiffany’s baby shower in April 2025, despite attendance from numerous other Trump family members.
In a 2016 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Melania discussed her relationship with her husband’s children.
“They are grown up,” she told the publication. “I don’t see myself as their mother. I am their friend, and I’m here when they need me.”
Just two years later, Tiffany appeared to be on good terms with her stepmother, posting a birthday message for Melania on Instagram alongside a photo of them together, captioned, “Love you.”
Trump is father to five children, with Barron being the only one born from his marriage with Melania. Three of his children are from his first marriage to Ivana, while Tiffany is his sole child from his relationship with Marla, a marriage that ended in divorce in 1999.
Marla’s connection to Donald first emerged a decade earlier, when Ivana learned Donald had been having an affair with the model. According to People, the Czech businesswoman made this discovery when the two women unexpectedly crossed paths during a vacation in Aspen, Colorado.

Shortly thereafter, Donald and Ivana filed for divorce and he continued his relationship with Marla. Not long after his first marriage was officially dissolved, the businessman announced he was welcoming his fourth child with the singer.
Within months, the couple tied the knot at the Plaza Hotel in New York. The extravagant ceremony drew approximately 1,000 guests, among them controversial figures such as O.J. Simpson and Jeffrey Epstein.
In his 1997 memoir, Trump: The Art of the Comeback, Donald reflected on their split, pointing to fundamental differences in their outlooks on life.
“Marla was content when it was just her, Tiffany, and me. I, on the other hand, realized that business needed to be taken care of constantly,” he wrote.
Donald went on to meet Melania just one year after his separation from Marla.
