Former Today star Hoda Kotb surprised fans with an unexpected career announcement.
The host made a guest appearance in a recent performance of the off-Broadway musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
Hoda Kotb just made a surprise appearance in the theater world.
Ever since the TV host left the Today show in January 2025, she’s thrown herself into her Joy 101 wellness brand, penning her book,Jump for Joy, and even making a return to daytime television.
And according to a recent Instagram post, the entrepreneur found herself onstage during a performance of the off-Broadway musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She serves as the featured guest who takes part in the show’s nightly spelling bee. As part of the role, she attempted to spell the word “unvigintillion.”
While she guessed incorrectly, the musical’s social team shouted out her effort. “@hodakotb we’d have you at the bee an unvigintillion times if we could!!!! 🐝💕 ,” the caption read on the May 8 post. “Thanks for spelling!!!!”
Fans commended her attempt in the comments.
“@hodakotb was very close to spelling it correctly! Well done! 🥳👏,” one person wrote. “Sooooo close,” another penned. “Fun guest speller spelling fact: at one point in her time working in local news before she joined NBC her last name (on air) was spelled Kotbee,” a different follower added.
This might be a sign that Hoda needs to star in a full-time production!
