A new star is entering the TV ballroom… and it’s someone that TikTok users didn’t see coming.
Dancing With the Stars season 35 is slated to premiere in the fall on ABC, and the show has been really good at teasing some of the contestants that will be competing this time around. After the announcements of Ciara Miller and Maura Higgins joining DWTS for the upcoming installment, the show decided fans needed to get into the baseball dugout for the next celebrity making their way to the dance floor.
As folks discovered on May 12, Savannah Bananas star Jackson Olson is the latest famous face joining Dancing With the Stars season 35. What’s more, the Savannah Bananas’ official Instagram had to shout out the excitement of the third baseman heading to TV in this new manner.
“The @dancingwiththestars stage is going to add a little bit of yellow this season 🤩,” the caption read alongside a promo shot of Jackson in his baseball uniform.
Naturally, longtime Savannah Bananas fans couldn’t hold back their elation for Jackson.
“Let’s go Jackson!!! This is epic!!” one person wrote in the comments. “SHUT UP!! BEST NEWS EVER!!!!” another shouted. “Nuh-uh!!!! For real!!!!!!????? I know who I am rooting for this season!” a different follower added.
For those unfamiliar with Jackson, he currently plays third base for the Savannah Bananas. He’s been a member of the exhibition baseball team since 2022, and the 28-year-old has amassed over two million followers on TikTok and one million followers on Instagram. He’s also dating Wheel of Fortune star Maggie Sajak, and the duo hard-launched their romantic relationship back in April.
While fans are just learning about Jackson’s involvement on Dancing With the Stars season 35, judge Derek Hough pointed out in a surprise Instagram post that he subtly alluded to Jackson competing when the two played catch with a small mirror ball when Derek performed with the team earlier this year.
“So, a few weeks back, I tried dropping a subtle, not so subtle, hint about Jackson stepping up to the plate for Dancing with the Stars,” he wrote in the caption. “Well, the cat’s out of the bag! Can’t wait to see him trade home runs for heel leads and curveballs for cha-cha-cha. Let’s just hope he doesn’t slip on any ballroom banana peels, though, if he can dodge a fastball, he can handle a quickstep!”
Considering all of this, we’re intrigued to see Jackson bring a little bit of baseball to Dancing With the Stars!
