Jimmy Kimmel has given Elon Musk a piece of his mind over his rant about the casting for The Odyssey. Kimmel told the Tesla CEO to “stay” in his lane after he opposed Lupita Nyong’o’s casting in Nolan’s upcoming film. The Oscar-winning actress is playing Helen of Troy, which Musk believes should be played by a white woman.

The rant started with conservative commentator Matt Walsh posting on X. He wrote, Not one person on the planet actually thinks that Lupita Nyong’o is ‘the most beautiful woman in the world.’ But Christopher Nolan knows that he would be called a racist if he gave “the most beautiful woman” role to a white woman. Nolan is technically talented but a coward.” To which Musk replied, “True.”
He then went ahead and wrote, “Chris Nolan desecrated the Odyssey so that he would be eligible for an Academy Award …”
Kimmel during his opening monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live, on May 20, narrated, “Elon Musk is now attacking Christopher Nolan, the film director, for the way he cast the movie ‘The Odyssey.’ He’s upset because Christopher Nolan hired Lupita Nyong’o to play a character he believes should be played by a white woman.” Kimmel then slammed the tech billionaire and told, “I mean, stay in your lane.”
He also addressed the backlash by noting that Helen of Troy was a mythical figure. The 58-year-old host said, “Helen of Troy was also not real. The Odyssey is a mythical poem.” He explained Helen was the daughter of Zeus and added, “It makes no difference to anyone but crazy, angry people what color she was.”
Last week, Alec Baldwin also slammed Musk. The 30 Rock alum wrote on Instagram while sharing a photo of the actress, “Dear Elon… but she IS the most beautiful woman in the world.”
