Nicholas Weinstock’s Sweetheart Entertainment Inks First-Look Deal With Prologue Entertainment

EXCLUSIVE: Emmy-nominated producer Nicholas Weinstock (Severance, Escape at Dannemora) has signed a first-look deal with Prologue Entertainment, the independent film and television studio that produced Netflix thrillers Zero Day and A House of Dynamite, among others.

Under the deal, Weinstock and his Sweetheart Entertainment shingle, co-founded with producing partner Andrea Bucko (Longlegs, Dead Man’s Wire, Paper Tiger), will develop and produce television series across Prologue’s growing slate of scripted stories inspired by real-life characters and events.

Weinstock has developed and produced movies that have earned more than half a billion dollars at the box office and television series that have been nominated for 53 Emmy Awards. In the past several years, he has become a leader in international co-productions, producing films and series by local creators in countries around the world for global audiences. Most recently, his movie Clarissa — produced in Nigeria and starring Sophie Okonedo, David Oyelowo, and Ayo Edebiri — premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and will be distributed worldwide by Neon.

His films include Bridesmaids, Alex Strangelove, The Package, Dinner in America, Queenpins and Thelma. Television series he has produced include Escape at Dannemora for Showtime, the four-season series In the Dark for the CW, the Apple TV+ series High Desert, and the Emmy-winning Apple TV series Severance, which he continues to Executive Produce.

Weinstock began his career as an editor at Random House in New York, is the author of three books, and served as the creative head of Apatow Productions, SVP of Chernin Entertainment, and creative head of Red Hour Films. He is now producing films and series across the U.S., Europe, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and beyond. He is also the founder of Craft Services: a first-of-its-kind support network and project incubator currently supporting more than 1,000 emerging movie and TV writers around the globe. Weinstock is represented by CAA.
