Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster haven’t even been together for that long, but there have been reports that the two are already thinking about taking their relationship to the next level. That’s kinda the reality of dating as an adult. You just jump into it with both feet.
And now, the two are even reportedly talking prenup. New Idea is reporting that the pair got engaged during a holiday to Costa Rica early in 2026 and is now planning their wedding.

“It wasn’t a shock to Sutton as it’s something they’ve been talking about,” a source said. “But Hugh did get down on one knee, and she is in possession of a diamond solitaire she’ll show off when they’re ready.”
The two are reportedly working on a $200 million prenup. Jackman had reportedly rejected one—he also never had one with ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness—but his financial team insisted.
“Hugh was against a prenup initially, but his business team and his ex kicked off about it, with Sutton also wanting to protect her future should things go sideways,” a source told New Idea. The agreement reportedly mostly protects Jackman’s two children, Oscar and Ava, and Foster’s nine-year-old daughter with her ex-husband Ted Griffin.
“This is a $200m prenup, including a $50m ‘no hard feelings’ exit package, and it’s mostly designed around protecting all three kids,” the source said. “It’s not comfortable discussions, but neither of them is willing to walk away — and Hugh genuinely believes the Sutton trolls will calm down once they’re married.”
Jackman is reportedly in “new territory” as he tries to navigate talking to his kids to get them “on board” with his new marriage.
“Even though Hugh is excited to start this next chapter with Sutton, he has to be sensitive to his kids,” a source said. “They’re incredibly protective of their mother . . . he wants to be respectful of that.”
This comes after Globe reported that Jackman and Foster are currently at odds over where to live. Jackman is said to be “pushing” Foster to relocate to Australia with him, but she doesn’t want to leave New York City.
“Sutton’s idea that they could just keep being this cozy little Broadway couple and work on their theatre projects indefinitely is proving to be a fantasy,” a source explained. “Hugh is always going to be a citizen of the world and he’s always going to need regular check-ins back in Australia.”
But that’s reportedly not the only reason they’re “not [in] a happy relationship at the moment.” They have also reportedly don’t see eye to eye on Jackman’s “grand mid-career ambitions.” Foster is reportedly “fine with just being a Broadway star because that’s been her dream since childhood,” but Jackman has “much bigger, more global plans” for his future.
“The bottom line is, Hugh knows he needs a partner who can really keep up with him and his schedule, without friction, the way his ex Deb was able to do for so many years,” but “Sutton still has a lot of commitments that keep her from doing that.”
