Add “movie star” to their résumés: Singers Adele and Sabrina Carpenter are making the leap to the big screen.
London-born Adele, 37, has joined the star-studded cast of Cry to Heaven, along with Nicolas Hoult, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany and others. The film, written and directed by fashion designer Tom Ford, is based on a novel by Anne Rice about opera singers in 18th century Italy — leading some to believe the “Hello” singer will use her famous pipes.

Sabrina, 26, will surely be singing in her new project, a musical adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Victorian-era children’s book Alice in Wonderland. It will be a return to acting for the former child star. She got her start at age 11 on an episode of Law & Order: SVU before appearing in several TV movies and landing her breakout role in the Disney Channel’s 2013 Boy Meets World reboot.
