Dan Auerbach has had a busy year, and it’s paying off.

The Akron native and frontman of The Black Keys has earned his fifth Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical — recognition that caps a prodigious 2025.

Auerbach, a previous winner in the category in 2013, is nominated alongside producers Blake Mills, Cirkut, Dijon and Sounwave for the 2026 Grammy Awards, which will be held Feb. 1 in Los Angeles.

The Recording Academy praised Auerbach for channeling “lived-in, visceral blues-rock” that blends authenticity with innovation — a sound that has defined much of his career since his early days in Akron basements and bars.

The nomination crowns a year where Auerbach’s wide-ranging musical reach has been on display. He produced albums from Robert Finley, Early James, Miles Kane and The Velveteers, released an instrumental record with The Moonrisers and co-wrote a Leon Bridges and Hermanos Gutiérrez single that climbed to No. 3 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart.

He also appeared on a duet with Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders and earned songwriting credits on new records by Blake Shelton and the Zac Brown Band, including a song featuring Dolly Parton.

That’s in addition to releasing the new Black Keys album “No Rain, No Flowers,” going on a pair of American and European tours and hosting DJ sets with Black Keys bandmate Patrick Carney.

Auerbach was also nominated for Producer of the Year in 2013, 2020, 2021 and 2023.
