For the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Royal Charity Polo Cup was both a philanthropic event and a sweet date spot.
On Friday, July 10, Prince William made his 15th appearance at the annual fundraising match, returning to the polo field for a friendly competition honoring ten charities across the United Kingdom. But it was, arguably, Princess Kate who won the hearts of the crowd, cheering her husband on in a black-and-white gingham midi dress.
The match raised over £1 million for the charities, supporting organizations dedicated to the medical and mental health care of children, veterans and serving military personnel, farmers, and more. “Celebrating 15 years of using sport to support charities making a lasting difference across the U.K. and around the world,” the couple shared on Instagram, posting photos from the event alongside more information about the partnering initiatives.
The event also coincided with the arrival of William’s brother, Prince Harry, who landed in England this past week. While overseas, the younger prince has been focusing on charity endeavors of his own—heading to Birmingham to mark the one-year countdown to his Paralympic-style Invictus Games, which will take place in the city next summer. Harry did not make it to the Royal Charity Polo Cup yesterday, spending the day instead with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House, their private residence in Gloucestershire. They were joined by Duchess Meghan, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet.
It’s certainly been a busy week for the royals.
