The recent behaviour of disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has made his staff want to “whack their heads on the desk”, it has been reported. The former royal has maintained his daily routine, which includes riding his horse and waving to photographers and members of the public, despite revelations from the latest drop of the Epstein files.
Andrew was instructed by King Charles to vacate his 30-room Royal Lodge residence in Windsor earlier this week and is now in temporary residence at Wood Farm. Despite being stripped of his official titles last October, he remains a member of the Royal Family and calls are growing for him to account for his behaviour.
As reported by the Daily Mail, 65-year-old Andrew, who has caused disgrace to the Royal Family through his involvement in the Epstein documents, was seen on his horse waving to passers-by in Windsor on Saturday morning (January 31). Royal insiders described it as one of those moments “you just want to whack your head on the desk” while another described it as “appaling optics”.
However, Andrew hastily departed Royal Lodge on Tuesday evening (February 3). The former prince left behind a number of possessions that had not yet been transferred to storage.
One source said: “It’s the latest in a long line of indignities for him. The King was not amused in the slightest that his brother was seen out riding in Windsor and driving around the estate, waving to passers by, while the Epstein scandal was reaching more depths over the last few days. Andrew has left quite a lot of belongings behind, so he will have to return and collect them, but may only do so by strict appointment.”
Andrew will now reside at Wood Farm, the home of his late father, Prince Philip, on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. He is expected to move to the four-bedroom Marsh Farm in April.
Both Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have made numerous appearances in the Epstein Files, which were released by the US Department of Justice last Friday (January 30). Among the damning allegations was a claim that an exotic dancer performed “various sex acts” with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and Andrew.
Fergie also regularly contacted Epstein, often inviting him to Buckingham Palace, according to the files. On one occasion, she said: “I am at your service. Just marry me.”
While being mentioned in the files does not suggest any wrongdoing, Andrew has not commented on them and has always denied any wrongdoing. Meanwhile, Fergie’s spokesperson previously said she had expressed regret over her association with Epstein.
The official position from Buckingham Palace remains that the King and Queen’s “thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse”.
