An anti-Trump administration protest will take place in close proximity to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Montecito home on January 10. This Saturday, a rally is being organised to “protest the Trump administration’s military abduction of Venezuela’s president and an ICE agent’s murder of a woman in Minnesota”.
The protest against Donald Trump’s administration will take place Upper State Street, at 10am, which is just a 13-minute drive from Harry and Meghan’s home in the Riven Rock neighbourhood where they live with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
It is being organised by Indivisible Santa Barbara. Community liaison, Myra Paige, said: “What we are seeing taking place in this country at this moment in time is an assault on our democracy, our Constitution, and our human rights, and we absolutely will not sit back, ever.”
American President Donald Trump has been widely criticised over the United States’ capture of Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, and bombing of the country’s capital, Caracas, on January 3.
Ian Paige, committee member of Indivisible Santa Barbara said: “What’s happening in Venezuela isn’t just an echo of what’s happening here. I think it’s just all part of the overall plan to assault the people below our border.”
Only four days after the military operation against Venezuela, an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Good in her car in Minneapolis – which has sparked outrage across the nation.
Shocking video footage of the shooting, which took place on Wednesday morning, shows two ICE agents ordering a woman to exit her vehicle after it was blocking an intersection. As she reverses and begins to turn away, a third agent arrives at the scene and opens fire, with three gunshots clearly audible in videos circulating on social media.
The outlet Santa Barbara Independent states that in Santa Barbara County, “encounters with ICE agents have increased, with plainclothes immigration officers seen in unmarked cars, and families and individuals affected by detentions and deportations”.
It has been reported officers from the Santa Barbara Police Department will be in attendance for public safety.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved into their California home in summer 2020 after briefly staying in Canada and then Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic.
