Get ready for another generation of Hollywood stars to emerge. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple, 22, has her first post-college job, and it’s in the entertainment industry.
This isn’t a small movie, either. Deadline announced on May 18 that Apple was joining the cast of Nancy Meyers’ first movie since 2015, Paris Paramount. The recent college graduate will be co-starring with some big names, including Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Jude Law, Owen Wilson, and Beverly D’Angelo.

Not only will this be Apple’s film debut, but she will be working with the rom-com legend who has written and directed fan-favorites The Holiday, Something’s Gotta Give, and The Parent Trap. The movie is expected to be released in December 2027.

Still, not everyone is thrilled to see another Hollywood kid get cast in a film. “There’s a good amount of eye rolling going on right now, as so many people are drawing the conclusion, quite understandably, that she’s only there by virtue of her famous mom and family,” a source told Star Magazine of Apple’s famous mom, dad, grandmother Blythe Danner, and late grandfather TV producer Bruce Paltrow.
“Gwyneth is telling Apple to just show up and give her best performance, to prove the doubters wrong,” they added.
Paltrow knows the uphill daughter will be facing, and she addressed it head-on during a May 27 Today show appearance.
“It’s hard. It’s a difficult road. But it’s worth pursuing if that’s their absolute truth,” she said of her adult children’s career choices, including son Moses, 19, who is pursuing music. She also advised them “not to read anything about themselves.”
In an April 2025 feature in Interview magazine, Apple revealed that she was not a drama major at Vanderbilt University. “I’m a law, history, and society major, but I wish I would’ve taken—maybe I’ll take a theater course before I leave. It’s a fun balance between my very different extracurriculars and my major,” she said.
Still, a career in entertainment was always an option for her. “I would love to do theater because I adore it so much. I’ve obviously never done film before, but I’ve been trying to get involved in student films,” Apple added. “I was born a theater kid.”
So, get ready, Hollywood, Apple Martin has arrived!
