Prince Archie’s former nanny has revealed what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are like at home. Paediatric nurse and consultant, Lorren Khumalo, looked after the couple’s son in the weeks and months after he was born in May 2019.
Harry and Meghan were living in Frogmore Cottage near Windsor Castle at the time. Lorren has since recalled how surprised she was at how she was received by the Sussexes when she arrived for an interview with the pair. She said that on arrival at the couple’s home she asked Harry’s personal protection officer if she would have to curtsy, but the PPO laughed, saying: “You’ll see. Prince Harry is amazing.”
Lorren said: “When I got there – the way he opened his arms, [saying]. ‘Hello Lorren!’, and gave me a hug. [I thought] ‘Wow, what a gentleman, what a gem’. Oh my goodness, I couldn’t believe it.”
She added: “And when I walked in and saw Meghan I thought, ‘My God, what a beautiful woman’. I just felt so comfortable. It wasn’t so formal as I expected it to be. It was just a normal home.”
Archie’s former nanny told Netflix for the Sussexes’ docuseries that Harry and Meghan were both “really hands-on” parents.
Lorren remembered how Harry and Meghan would come in when Archie woke up in the morning to be with their baby.
She said the Duchess of Sussex would feed her son, then she would take over, usually taking the tot out for a walk.
Meghan went on to praise Lorren, according to the Mirror. She recalled Lorren asking if she could tie Archie in a sling round her back and how the Duchess had agreed.
The young prince’s mum said: “She just took care of Archie and she took care of us. She definitely took care of me.”
Royal fans got a rare glimpse of Archie and his sister, Princess Lilibet, earlier this month when Meghan posted video of a relaxed weekend with them on Instagram.
One clip showed Lilibet playing in the Sussexes’ swimming pool along with her grandmother, Doria Ragland.
Archie appeared in another video, feeding a rhino during a trip to the Living Desert Zoo in Palm Springs.
Six-year-old Archie could be heard responding to an explanation by a zoo worker with the word, “What”, in an American accent.
Harry, Meghan and Archie moved to the US after the Sussexes announced they would step back as senior members of the Royal Family. They now live in Montecito, California.
