Bay Area pop music fans have been waiting in heavy anticipation ever since Ariana Grande announced way back in August that she was planning to kick off her massive Eternal Sunshine Tour at Oakland Arena.
And it finally happened, as Grande took to the stage on Saturday (June 6) for the first of three sold-out nights at the Oakland Arena. Grande was also scheduled to perform at the venue on June 7 and 9.
Unfortunately, Grande and company were not credentialing local regional publications — like the Bay Area News Group — to review the opening night gig. That was simply a result of supply and demand, with the immense interest in reviewing this tour opener from the huge national publications gobbling up the supply of media tickets available for Saturday’s show. So, that explains why you’re not reading a review of opening night in this publication.
Thus, for in-depth coverage of the June 6 Grande gig, marking her first tour since 2019, I recommend checking out the Variety review from ace music critic Chris Willman. His stuff is always topnotch.
Still, I wanted to provide our readers with some of the details about this Grande gig, which launched what is undoubtedly one of the biggest tours of 2026. Indeed, I wouldn’t be surprised if the tour comes around again at some point for a string of stadium shows.
Judging by the setlist posted on setlist.fm, Grande dedicated a good portion of the evening to 2024’s “Eternal Sunshine” — including tracks from 2025’s deluxe “Brighter Days Ahead” edition of the album. In all, nearly half of the 23-song setlist was devoted to “Eternal Sunshine” material.
Grande also included material from such hit albums as “My Everything” and “Positions” as well as one number — “hate that i made you love me” — from the forthcoming “petal” album (due out on July 31).
The show also appears to have been broken up into five acts.
