In 2023, Shah Rukh Khan took over the box office like wildfire with his pan-India blockbuster Jawan. And the man behind presenting the superstar in that action-packed avatar was acclaimed filmmaker Atlee. It is thus natural that fans want the two to collaborate again, probably for Jawan 2. However, the director, in an exclusive chat with India Today, shared that the plans for a sequel are nowhere in the picture.
Atlee mentioned that while he is also excited to work with Shah Rukh again, Jawan 2 may not be that project. “I think me and Shah Rukh sir will definitely work on something. But Jawan 2, I personally feel, [can only happen] maybe after some years. It won’t be the immediate next. But we will look into something. When that idea comes, or something happens organically, we will definitely do something,” Atlee said.
Recently, there was a strong buzz that Shah Rukh Khan had imposed a condition on the makers of Don 3 that he would do the film only if Atlee directs it. The Farhan Akhtar-led sequel was initially set to star Ranveer Singh. When asked about the same, Atlee laughed it off, calling it merely a rumour.
“I also read about it, but there’s nothing like that. It’s just a rumour,” the director said.
Atlee was playing an exhibition match at the World Pickleball League, in which he co-owns a team, ‘Bengaluru Jawans’. The defending champion of the tournament, the filmmaker shared he’s hoping to take home the trophy this time around, too.
On a personal note, last week, Atlee and his wife, producer Priya Atlee, announced that they are expecting their second child. The couple, who welcomed their first son, Meer, in January 2023, shared the news with their followers on Instagram, posting a series of photos that depicted their growing family and excitement for the new arrival.
