The inaugural Augusta Music & Songwriter Festival is coming up May 15-16, featuring plenty of live music, artistry, and storytelling at the Augusta Common.
Friday features singer-songwriter Shawn Mullins. The headliner on Saturday will be Big K.R.I.T., a rapper and record producer known for his unique production style and chopped-soul samples.
There will also be workshops available to learn directly from industry professionals.
“Music has a way of bringing people together in a way nothing else can,” said Denise Tucker, executive director of the Greater Augusta Arts Council, which is sponsoring the event with Growing Augusta. “This festival creates space for artists to share their stories and for our community to gather, connect, and experience something special together.”
The event will be from 5-9:40 p.m. on Friday, May 15, and from noon to 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, May 16.
Shawn Mullins is a singer-songwriter who specializes in folk rock, instrumental rock, adult alternative, and Americana music. His 1998 single “Lullaby” hit number one on the Adult Top 40 and was nominated for a Grammy Award. He will perform at the inaugural Augusta Music and Songwriter Festival May 15-16 at the Augusta Common.
Friday performances begin at 5:30 p.m. and include:

Also on Friday, there will be a late-night Producer Competition from 9-11 p.m. at Humanitree House at 305 8th St.

Saturday evening performances are scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m.
Two workshops will be held on Saturday and are included in the cost of admission. Both will be at Augusta & Co. at 1010 Broad St. The workshops are:
Songwriter Publishing Masterclass: noon to 1 p.m. with DJ Chuck T.
Songwriter Masterclass: 1:30-3 p.m. with Felly The Voice
General admission for the two-day festival is $10 and can be purchased at the gate. VIP passes are $40 and must be purchased in advance at www.AugustaArts.com. VIP passes include access to a meet-and-greet with some of the performers on Friday in the VIP tent and at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Humanitree House.
