Reality television personalities Todd and Julie Chrisley have had a tumultuous few years marked by legal troubles, jail time, a presidential pardon, and now a new reality show.
The Chrisleys are back on reality TV to show everything that has happened with their family for the last several years on a new show called “The Chrisleys: Back to Reality.” The show follows Todd and Julie Chrisley as they are pardoned by President Donald Trump, released from their respective prisons in Florida and Kentucky, and return home to Tennessee.
Todd and Julie Chrisley became known after starring in the USA Network series “Chrisleys Know Best,” which portrayed the couple of real estate tycoons and showed off their lavish lifestyle in Nashville. The show spawned two spinoffs, “Growing Up Chrisley” and “According to Chrisley,” before the couple was convicted of tax evasion and defrauding community banks.
Here’s what to know about the upcoming show and when it will air and just what the next steps are for Todd and Julie Chrisley.
When was Todd and Julie Chrisley’s new television show announced?
The couple announced the family’s return to the small screen during a segment on “My View with Lara Trump,” which is hosted by Trump’s daughter-in-law on Fox News Channel on June 28.
“We’re coming back to television,” Todd Chrisley said.
“The Chrisleys: Back to Reality” reality TV series begins during the wake of the family’s controversy and upheaval with Todd and Julie Chrisley in federal prison and follows the family as their parents are eventually pardoned, released from prison and return home.

What is ‘The Chrisleys: Back to Reality’ about?
“The new series exposes the raw truth of the Chrisley’s lives — past and present — and the reality is far different from what audiences have seen before. The family faces a critical point that will either make their bond stronger or leave it shattered forever. This series delivers an unfiltered, deeply personal look at their journey and introduces the real Chrisleys as they navigate this new chapter,” read the news release from Lifetime.
What is next for the Chrisley family? Will they stay in Tennessee?
Savannah Chrisley, Grayson Chrisley, Julie Chrisley and Todd Chrisley were interviewed June 23, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee, for an episode of “My View with Lara Trump” on Fox News Channel. Todd and Julie Chrisley received a full pardon from President Donald Trump on May 28, 2025.
It looks like the Chrisleys are changing things up and going back to their roots.
“It’s amazing that those that walked away from you are the first ones knocking at the door again. So we’re coming back to television, and I think that we’re heading back home,” Todd Chrisley said during the interview. “We’re heading back to South Carolina where we came from, and we’re going to open a hotel there, and we’re going to create a show around it, and we’re going to hopefully be grandparents at some point.”
Why were Todd and Julie Chrisley in prison?
Todd and Julie Chrisley were found guilty in June 2022 of committing tax evasion and defrauding community banks out of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans. Julie Chrisley was also convicted of obstruction of justice and wire fraud.
In November 2022, the couple was originally sentenced to 12 and seven years in prison, respectively. They also received an order of 16 months probation from U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross in Atlanta, news outlets reported.
Before their release, the Chrisleys were further ordered to turn over $30,000 held in an Alabama trust fund to help pay for their $17 million judgment after their guilty verdict.
When did the Chrisleys get out of prison?
Julie and Todd Chrisley were released from their respective federal prisons in Florida and Kentucky on May 28 and were on the “way home to Nashville,” according to the family’s legal representation.
Are the Chrisleys from Tennessee?
The Chrisley family moved from Atlanta to Nashville in 2015.
Do the Chrisleys still have to pay back the money with the pardon?
In addition to prison time, the couple was ordered to immediately pay $17 million in restitution to the banks they swindled millions from, according to judgment documents. The Chrisleys spent millions on designer brand clothes, luxury cars and real estate, including two mansions in Nashville, reportedly worth about $9 million.
Trump’s pardon also wipes clear the debt the two owed since it was part of the court order and not a civil matter.
