Bruce Adolphe, Resident Lecturer and Director of Family Concerts of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, talks Systems, Symmetry, and Mystery in the Music of J.S. Bach at Saint James Place in Great Barrington.  Join Berkshire Bach for an entertaining presentation by one of the most creative and insightful minds in the classical music world today, followed by a conversation hosted by BBS Artistic Director Eugene Drucker.  Composer, pianist, educator, author, and delightfully inventive and spontaneous thinker, Bruce Adolphe shares insights into the neuroscience of creativity and inspiration and considers the role that memory and imagination play in artistic expression. He is the creator and star of Piano Puzzlers, the popular radio quiz on American Public Media’s Performance Today that presents well-known tunes disguised in different musical styles, and according to violinist Itzhak Perlman, “is an inspired teacher and a wonderful musician with an unusual ability to translate complex musical concepts into words.”  Fred Childs, host of Performance Today, writes that “thanks to Bruce Adolphe, we’ve all learned a thing or two about listening, and about musical thinking.”  On September 13 come hear Bruce Adolphe at Saint James Place to change your mind—about music, about imagination, and about Bach—just for the fun of it!
