The lovable Australian character was at Cardiff Airport on Friday to launch the Welsh-language version of the children’s series.

Bluey, or Blŵi in Welsh, will be dubbed by production company Tinopolis and shown on Welsh-language channel S4C from 30 December.

Sioned Geraint, S4C’s content commissioner – children and learners, said it was a long-awaited arrival for young viewers.

The series follows the loveable, inexhaustible, blue heeler dog, who lives with her mum Chilli, dad Bandit and little sister Bingo.

The series has become a favourite with children and adults, known for its laugh-out-loud moments, but also explores topics such as grief, marriage and infertility.

Cecilia Persson, managing director of Kids & Family at BBC Studios, said they were delighted that Bluey/Blŵi has joined the S4C family.

“The show’s playful stories and heartfelt moments connect with families everywhere and it’s wonderful that viewers in Wales can now enjoy Bluey in their own language.”

Following its debut in Australia in 2018, Bluey has gained millions of fans around the world and is now one of the most-watched animated TV series globally.

The Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning phenomenon airs in more than 140 countries. A feature-length Bluey movie is due for release in August 2027.
