Three fitness and music events are taking over KL this 23 and 24 May, combining boxing, Pilates, and live performances to raise funds for stateless children in Kuching
The Celebrate With Purpose lineup includes a high-energy Pilates session, a live music night, and a beginner-friendly boxing class, all part of a charity series organised by boxing and Pilates instructor Tabby Rani.
She casually floated the idea through an Instagram poll asking, “What should I do for my birthday?”
“I never intended for it to turn into a whole ‘carnival’ that combines both my fitness and music worlds. But alas, here we are. And truthfully, I’m really happy with how things have flowed and grown over time,” she told SAYS.

Inspired by her mother, who founded Pusat Pendidikan D’Wira, a school in Kuching that supports stateless and underserved children, Tabby said the cause has always been close to home
“I’ve seen her pour so much sweat, hard work, and sometimes even tears into this school,” Tabby shared.
Although based in KL, stories about the children have stayed with her over the years.
“I’ve always had this thought at the back of my mind: ‘Okay… I should help somehow.'”
That “somehow” has now grown into a multi-event fundraiser bringing together two of her worlds: fitness and music.
The first event is a Pilates-inspired sweat session that blends dumbbells, cardio, and high-energy movement, happening on 23 May at 12.45pm
The Strong Pilates session will feature a double-capacity setup, meaning two people per machine instead of one, adding more intensity and energy to the workout.
“If you enjoy Pilates-based movements, love a good cardio push, and want to challenge yourself in a fun, high-energy setting, this class is definitely for you,” Tabby shared.

The second event shifts from movement to music
Music for a Cause features Evie Feroza and LETHRIO at Tom, Dick & Harry’s, a venue where the band was originally formed.
Returning to the same stage makes the night especially meaningful, as it brings the group back to where their musical journey first began.
“This reunion is more than just a performance. It’s a night of music, celebration, memories, and purpose. It also marks what could be the first of many shows to come,” shared Tabby.
The event starts at 8pm on 23 May and will also feature appearances from other local musicians and singers.

The final event brings things back to the gym with a beginner-friendly boxing class designed for everyone, even first-timers
Held at Tribe, this Level 1 intro boxing class focuses on rhythm, basics, and building confidence in a fun, supportive environment.
“This is where my journey as a fitness instructor first began, which makes this class even more special,” Tabby said.

Her parents will be flying in from Kuching to attend all three events, making it a full-circle moment.
“Maybe another reason for doing this is to finally get my parents to see what I actually do for a living,” she joked.
Her mother, the principal of Pusat Pendidikan D’Wira, will also be present to share more about the school and its work.
“She’ll be around and happy to answer any questions from anyone attending the events,” Tabby added.
At its core, Celebrate With Purpose is about awareness, connection, and giving back, especially to children who often go unseen
“In a nutshell: to help the school, create awareness, and start conversations,” Tabby said.
She hopes attendees leave with both a good experience and a better understanding of stateless and low-income children in urban areas like Kuching.
“I think sometimes people assume issues surrounding stateless or low-income children and families needing access to education only happen in rural areas, but this is happening right in the city, in the heart of Kuching,” she added.
While the cause is serious, she hopes the events still feel uplifting.
“Fitness and music have both given me community, purpose, and so many opportunities, so being able to use those worlds to give back with my community feels really special to me. And heck, this is definitely a fun way to throw a birthday party!”
