Bugsy’s to bring bowling, arcade and ax throwing to Hamburg

A new entertainment venue is bringing ax throwing to Hamburg.

Bugsy’s Entertainment, a new family fun destination, will open on Bryant Road this spring in a nearly 40,000-square-foot building. It will have bowling lanes, an arcade, indoor golf putting course, roller coaster simulator and, yes, ax throwing.

There also will be a full service restaurant with two bars — one on each floor — plus party rooms that can be rented for special events such as birthday parties.

It’s expected to open in March, said owner Hemal Patel.

Patel, who also owns the BD’s Mongolian Grill in Hamburg, said he lives in the area and had long wanted to bring an entertainment center to that side of town. He and his business partners, including locals Raj Singh and Manpreet Singh, found the perfect property and bought it last year.

“It’s something that’s needed,” he said.

They have experience in the field: Bugsy’s Entertainment is owned by the same group that purchased Galaxy Bowling in Richmond a few years go and added an upgraded arcade.

Last summer, they purchased the former United Motorsports building, which has several hotels nearby, through Haymaker Commercial Real Estate at 2049 Bryant Road for $6.2 million and began renovations.

Patel said Bugsy’s, which is named for his dog, will have lots of amenities, including live music, an arcade with about 75 games, including Top Golf, and virtual reality games such as Valo for up to eight players.

They also hope to offer their bowling lanes to nearby high schools for a practice facility, he said.

The restaurant will offer pizza, wings, burgers and fries and more. The venue will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

And they have plans to add more: “We also have a speakeasy planned for the future,” he said.
