Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo‘s divorce news made headlines earlier this month, and a new report says that her desire to return to the world of adult entertainment played a part in their decision to part ways.
“Bunnie started seriously considering a return, and that created real tension,” a source told Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack on Tuesday, June 23.
Bunnie, 46, previously had a career in the sex work industry. As In Touch previously reported, the best-selling author revealed she was still working in the industry when Jelly Roll, 41, was just starting his career.
“Everybody always likes to say that I had all the money when we first got together and I did this for him and I did that for him,” she said during the June 18 episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast. “And I mean, I had sugar daddies at the time that were paying for all of this.”
“It wasn’t like I was over here just sitting on a million dollars and was taking care of him. Like, I was turning tricks to pay our bills and to get lawyers and to travel and to, you know, go on tour and stuff like that,” she said.
Several years after she and Jelly Roll married and he began topping the charts in country music, she stepped away from that line of work.

However, the source said that as she began to contemplate returning to adult entertainment, the “I Am Not Okay” singer became concerned it might affect his career. (Jelly Roll has been open about his Christian faith and collaborated with Christian artist Brandon Lake on his song “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”)
“Nobody was judging anyone,” a separate source told the outlet. “The issue wasn’t morality. The issue was compatibility. They stopped seeing the same picture when they looked ahead.”
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, and the Dumb Blonde podcast host first met in 2015 and they tied the knot the following year. Two years into their marriage, they separated after she discovered him having an affair with one of his exes, something she spoke about in her memoir Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic.
They ultimately reconciled and seemed happily married, but earlier this month, news broke that Jelly Roll had filed for divorce in May.
Despite their split, the two have been open about remaining friends after they go their separate ways.
