Brad Everett Young died Sunday night, September 14, after his vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver on the 134 Freeway in Los Angeles. The 46-year-old celebrity photographer and actor was returning home alone from a movie theater when the collision occurred, according to publicist Paul Christensen.

Young died at the scene while the other driver survived and was hospitalized. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has not released additional details about the fatal accident.

Young established himself as a prominent figure on Hollywood’s red carpet circuit, photographing celebrities at premieres, galas and awards shows. His photography portfolio included work for major publications including The Hollywood Reporter, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, People and Variety.

Acting career spanned television and film projects

Young’s acting career began in the late 1990s with appearances on television series including Boy Meets World, Felicity, Grey’s Anatomy and Numb3rs. His film credits included roles in Love & Basketball (2000), Charlie’s Angels (2000), Jurassic Park III (2001), I Love You, Man (2009), The Artist (2011) and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (2017).

Dream Loud Official founded to support arts education

Young founded Dream Loud Official, a grassroots organization focused on restoring and preserving music and art programs in schools nationwide. The initiative aimed to inspire students, teachers and artists while emphasizing that “creativity is not a luxury but an essential part of education.””Brad’s passion for both the arts and the people behind them was unmatched,” Christensen said in a statement. “He lived his mission of keeping creativity alive, and his legacy will continue through Dream Loud Official.”

Early life and career transition from Virginia to Hollywood

Born July 24, 1979, in Danville, Virginia, Young was the middle child of three siblings. After graduating from Chatham High School and Averett University, where he worked as a writer, photographer and graphic designer for school publications, he moved to Los Angeles initially planning to attend medical school.

Young changed his career path after early success in the entertainment industry. “L.A. was just the place where I could make those decisions with all the job opportunities the town offered,” he said in a 2015 interview. “In the first month here, I went out on my first audition for a TV series, booked it, joined the Screen Actors Guild, and the rest was history.”
