The Celebrity Traitors finale spoilers follow.
The Celebrity Traitors has finally come to an end after five weeks, nine episodes, a handful of murders, and a lot of times where the Faithfuls banished one of their own. They turned it around briefly towards the end, but in the end, Alan Carr was too convincing and won the game for The Traitors.
Given how convincing Joe had been in the last few episodes, and how chaotic Alan had been — especially when he couldn’t keep a straight face telling his fellow celebrities that he was a Faithful — it seemed like a Faithful victory was assured.
But as the final minutes of the episode went out across the UK, about half the country’s jaws were hitting the floor, as people couldn’t believe Alan actually pulled it off.
“Alan, the man who has laughed in the face of faithfuls and claimed he was worse than Linda, has WON THE TRAITORS. I CANT BELIEVE THIS,” one fan wrote, while another said: “If you had told me earlier this year alan would be an incredible traitor i wouldn’t have believed it but here we are.”

“This was some surprising ending. For someone who was so sweating at the beginning, he played a great game,” a third agreed, while a fourth commented: “Well what a shock! I can’t believe he won after me saying he would be the first traitor gone! Can’t believe Nick did that to poor Joe!”
Others weren’t as surprised that things went the way they did. While some people expected the result as they believed Alan is “THE BEST TRAITOR TO EVER LIVE”, others felt it was more a Faithful loss rather than a Traitors victory.
“Alan has laughed the entire way through. Couldn’t even say the word traitor. What were they doing Worst faithfuls ever,” one annoyed viewer said, echoed by another: “This ‘the traitors did amazing’ narrative is completely wrong. It was the worst set of faithfuls in Traitors history. They managed to fail in inconceivable ways.”
Regardless of why we got the result we did, people agreed that it was excellent television.
“First time in quite a while I’ve genuinely not wanted a programme to end,” one fan said. “Wednesdays and Thursdays are going to henceforth…suck.”
Someone even stated that the episode “could be the best episode of British television there has ever been. What a show. Unbelievable!”

People also said they preferred the celebrity version over the civilian version, with one saying: “it helps they weren’t taking to too seriously and know it’s a game” and another saying “This is actually much more pleasant to watch when it’s celebrities and the money doesn’t matter to them”.
And even though Joe was the person who tried to get Alan more than anyone else, viewers loved the two of them together, dubbing them “an old married couple” and “the duo we didn’t know we needed”.
“BBC, please commission a travel documentary with Alan and Joe,” another viewer said. “You know it makes sense.”
