Fans of the popular Channel 4 programme took to social media to share their delight as Gogglebox returned on Friday night with the armchair critics back in action

Gogglebox fans expressed unanimous delight as the Channel 4 programme returned for a fresh series.

The cast of the beloved show, which features various sofa-bound commentators sharing their views on recent television programmes, had been taking a hiatus. However, the series came back for its 27th run on Friday evening (February 6).

The episode featured several Gogglebox stalwarts – including Abbie and Georgia, Mary and Giles and Jenny and Lee – watching shows such as The Apprentice, The Floor and Secret Genius. They also viewed the fast-paced Motorway Cops and Hollywood actor Will Smith’s series Pole to Pole.

Audiences were delighted to see it return to their screens following the interval, with numerous people sharing comments about it on social media.

“Yes, Friday night belly laughs are back,” one viewer posted on X, previously known as Twitter, reports the Mirror.

“Love love love Gogglebox,” one fan effused, while others remarked on how much it made them “giggle”. Some expressed their enjoyment by posting crying with laughter emojis on social media.

One fan who was unable to watch the new series due to geographical constraints voiced their disappointment on Instagram, stating: “We miss this show in Australia! You have many fans here and we’re bereft! (Used to be on @binge here but we haven’t had your last few seasons.”
