Chrissy Teigen made a sweet gesture to her dad, Ron Teigen Sr., at his funeral service on Tuesday.
The model shared photos from her late father’s memorial on her Instagram Stories, revealing that she wore his utility vest in his honor.
“Dude, I get it,” she shared in a video modeling the bulky vest by brand Olympina, which featured many pockets. “All my things are in here. My phone, glasses, I have everything. Just can’t… takes a little bit to find them. But I get it. I get it, Dad.”
Teigen’s husband, John Legend, could be heard in the clip sharing a kind laugh at Teigen’s vest-functionality observations.
She then posted photos from the funeral, at which she wore the blue cargo vest over a black ensemble, and paired it with sunglasses. In one photo, Teigen held flowers in her hand and stood in front of a memorial floral arrangement. In another, she sat with Legend and one of their children on the ground in front of her father’s casket, looking up at his photo.

Teigen, 40, also posted a lighthearted video of her and her mother, Vilailuck “Pepper” Teigen, competing in the tortilla slap challenge, wherein two people fill their mouths with water and play “Rock, Paper, Scissors.” Whoever loses slaps the other in the face with a tortilla, usually causing water to spray out of their mouth.
“We quite literally don’t know what else to do,” Teigen captioned the video of her and Pepper, who split from Ron in 2019.
Teigen shared news of her father’s death on Instagram in a now-deleted post on June 10, writing, “Yesterday I woke up with a daddy and went to bed without one.”
She explained that her day began like any other before she received the unexpected news.
“All the same things happened,” Teigen wrote. “Hurried shower. Picked up stuffing from the dog toys. Answered some emails. Avoided some. Laughed with my friends and put on a pretty dress for a friend’s birthday. Took a video. How cute is this dress! And then my dad just like… f—ing died.”

Teigen noted that she was surprised by her own reaction to his death. “I thought that since we talk about it and I’ve come to terms with him always having been an ‘old dad’ that I wouldn’t have fallen to the ground the way I did.”
She added that she had written her dad a letter a couple of months ago, sharing with him how much she loved him and how grateful she was to have him in her life.

“I am forever grateful for the moment I handed him the letter, and all our years before,” she wrote.
Legend, 47, shared of his father-in-law in the comments, “We love you so much Papa Ron. I’m so glad you got to spend so much time with your grandbabies. I loved seeing you beam with pride at the beautiful family you helped create.”
Teigen and Legend, who tied the knot in 2013, share four children: Luna, 10, Miles, 8, Esti, 3, and Wren, nearly 3. They also lost their son Jack following a pregnancy loss in 2020.
