DOYLESTOWN, PA — Comfortable temperatures and a relaxed community vibe brought hundreds out to the first of four free outdoor “Concerts at the Commons” in Doylestown Borough.
Produced by Stage United, in partnership with the borough’s Parks and Recreation Department, young and old came out on Thursday to hear performances by popular Philadelphia singer Sug Daniels and vocalist and songwriter Clover Stieve of Frenchtown, N.J.
Both bands brought people to their feet, with some dancing in the grass in front of the stage. Others were content just to relax on their chairs and blankets while enjoying Kona Ice, Jules Thin Crust Pizza, crepes from the Creperie and drinks from Main Street Sports and Social and Free Will Brewing.

“Each night will be an entirely different sound, different voices and different backgrounds on the stage,” said concert producer Joe Montone of Stage United who has put together an amazing line up of artists for the series.
The free music continues on May 14 with guest performer Snacktime, an American soul, funk, and alternative band from Philadelphia. Opening for Snacktime will be Doylestown’s own spacey jazz fusion trio Colacore.
Folk rockers Driftwood will headline night three – May 21 – with Katelynn Capser of Serene Green kicking off the show.
And capping off the series will be the rock quartet Fat Mezz on May 28 with special guests Hay Sugar of Doylestown.
“To have this in this park means so much to me,” said Montone. “I am a lifelong Bucks County resident. I grew up here. I’ve been introducing concerts here for 15 years. And having you all here tonight is the reason why we have teamed up with the borough.”
The park opens at 6 p.m. on concert nights with the first acts taking the stage at 6:50 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs or blankets to the event. Parking is free at the nearby Bucks County Parking Garage.
