Fans of The Band Perry received a shock Monday when Reid Perry announced that he is leaving the group.
Perry, the bassist for the group, announced his intentions on Instagram.
“To the fans, you’ve always been my favorite part of this,” he wrote. “I’ve decided to leave TBP. I’ll be missing seeing you in the crowd at a Band Perry show but I’ll be around, managing a new voice I believe in more than anything, Ryan Coleman. For me it was and will always be about making great country music, with and for the hardworking people who love it and live it. Thank you for every memory, I’ll see you back in the saddle. I wish Kimberly and TBP the best as they move forward into the future.”
The 36 year old’s departure means that his sister, The Band Perry singer Kimberly Perry, is the final remaining original member of the trio.
“Reid! Wishing you the most wonderful successes in your new era!” she responded to his announcement. “Love you, brother!”
Fans had a mix of responses.
“Ouch, just when you all returned too,” one person replied. “So that mean both brothers are gone, right? Such a short reunion.”
“Thanks for all the unforgettable memories along the years,” another replied. “Best of luck in the new project.”
“We will miss you as part of TBP — it won’t be the same without you,” anther wrote. “But will keep following your career and wishing you all the best!!!”
“My heart breaks hearing this news,” another replied. “I wish you Luck! We definitely will miss you! Love ya.”
Parade Magazine said that another brother, Neil Perry, left the group in 2024 to pursue a solo career. Kimberly’s husband, Johnny Costello, replaced him in the group, but Parade said it is unclear who will replace Reid.
The Band Perry was first formed in 2005, and Parade said the group had its breakout hit, “If I Die Young,” in 2010. The group won a Grammy Award in 2015 for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Gentle on My Mind.”
The band also moved into pop music in 2016, and in 2023 The Band Perry took a break, according to Parade, before it returned to its country roots in 2025.
