The State Department confirmed the change on social media, writing that the new name reflects “the greatest dealmaker in our nation’s history.” The department also shared a snap showing the president’s name on the facade of the building that houses the independent nonprofit, which was established by President Ronald Reagan in 1984 and is funded by Congress.
Klepper noted that the agency was one of the first that the Trump administration tried to shut down earlier this year.
“But now it looks like he’s had a change of heart ― and wall,” said Klepper before tossing to celebrity.land coverage of the renaming.
Klepper also shared a simply “wonderful” reaction to the building makeover.
“The Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace? I look forward to seeing it alongside the Benjamin Netanyahu Bureau of Urban Planning and the RFK Jr. School for Singing,” he quipped.
