Dallas-based SRG Entertainment Group has landed a potential wide audience for Snoop Robinson’s locally produced, limited drama series “Frienemies” by inking a streaming deal with Tubi. The three-part series features high-stakes intrigue in the fashion world intercut with scenes in a women’s prison and lots of “get-into-the-dirt” high drama, producers say.

Set to debut this Friday, November 21, on Tubi, the free, ad-supported streaming service, “Frienemies” stars Missy Lee, Sekou Calhoun, Chanté Small, and Alexandria Warfield.

A red-carpet screening for the series is being held at 7 p.m. today, November 18, at the Grand Prairie Premiere Lux 10 theater in Grand Prairie, with red-carpet arrivals slated for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

All about ‘Frienemies’

“Frienemies” was directed and executive-produced by local filmmaker Snoop Robinson, who also has story credit. Another executive producer of the series is former Dallas Cowboy offensive guard Kelvin Garmon. Robinson and Garmon are co-owners of SRG Entertainment.

“’Frienemies’ is essentially a feature film split into three parts,” Robinson said in a statement, “with cliffhangers that make for exactly the kind of fun, get-into-the-dirt high drama with big characters that will hopefully inspire people to want to reach for the popcorn and binge or keep coming back to.”

Robinson called Tubi “a great home to platform the series.”

“We couldn’t be more excited for audiences around the country to see it and enjoy the story, our characters, the style, and the oftentimes catty repartee in each episode,” he added.

Flashbacks, fashion success, and backbiting

Per SRG, here’s a synopsis of what viewers will discover on “Frienemies”:

Tracy (Alexandria Warfield) deals with the reality of her life in a women’s prison, but she still hasn’t come to terms with what she did to put her behind bars. We flash back to see her life as the right hand woman in a bustling fashion boutique run by talented, but demanding designer John Lovely (Sekou Calhoun). While John’s creations are celebrated, his business is rife with tension, back biting, and complicated relationships that Tracy struggles to keep a lid on as she manages their clients and prepares for the next big show.

Feeling overwhelmed, she hires a trusted friend, Samantha (Missy Lee) to take the pressure off of her and help her right the ship. However, Samantha has another agenda which has the potential to undo Tracy’s entire world and bring it all crashing down.

Local viewers may recognize two Dallas radio stars in the cast—DeDe McGuire and J-Kruz of K-104 radio’s “DeDe in the Morning” make appearances in the series. Also appearing are noted gospel singer and musician Fred Hammond and comedian Jerimiah J.J. Williamson.

Seeking a national audience for SRG content

Garmon, the executive producer of SRG Entertainment Group, said that after “much success” in the Dallas-Fort Worth market and surrounding areas with SRG’s previous films, landing “Frienemies” on Tubi “marks an important step for us to not just deliver another entertaining project to Snoop’s and SRG’s fans, but to expand our audience across the country.”

“Tubi’s programming offers a perfect place for those audiences to find ‘Frienemies,’ watch it, and refer their friends to see it, as we continue to build the SRG Entertainment family,” Garmon added in a statement.

SRG Entertainment Group specializes in film and television productions, striving “to bring stories to life through innovative storytelling and high-quality production.” Previous productions from SRG include the thriller film “Do it for the Gram,” the movie “My Brother’s Wife,” and “Why Good Girls Become Bad Boys,” a stage play/film hybrid written, directed, and produced by Danielle Roberson.
