Acclaimed Vancouver-based folk musician Dana Sipos has announced the forthcoming release of her new album, further previewed today by the new single “Songs of Longing.”
Produced by Sandro Perri, Golden Molten is set for release on January 23. The follow-up to Sipos’s 2021 album The Astral Plane is noted as her “most personal and luminous work” to date, according to a press release, following a long series of transformations for the singer-songwriter — including her cancer diagnosis, treatment, the death of her stepfather, love and eventual heartbreak.
“We were short on time due to some extenuating recording circumstances, one after another,” Sipos explained of the three-day session at Toronto’s Union Sound Company with her band that birthed Golden Molten. “The studio can often be a bit vulnerable but the timing element added an emotional intensity to the experience, at least for me, that I think ultimately charged up the songs. There were some very fun moments of course and those ‘studio magic moments,’ but it was unexpectedly emotional as well.”
