Ever since he snubbed his father’s 50th birthday, David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest son Brooklyn has become increasingly separated from his family. His parents were left heartbroken again as he failed to invite his relatives to his secret vow renewal. Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz married in 2022 and said “I do” for a second time on August 2 in Westchester County in the US. The Peltz family attended and had key roles, but the Beckhams were nowhere in sight. Brooklyn’s siblings reportedly only learned about the second wedding after it happened, reading about it on a US website.
A source told The Sun: “This was the final kick in the teeth for David and Victoria. Seeing Nelson having such a pivotal role at the ceremony was heartbreaking for David especially. Not one member of the 30-plus extended family knew about the wedding, or were invited. His grandparents are devastated too as Brooklyn has always been so close to them.
The source added it “feels cruel and spiteful”, questioning whether Brooklyn will change his surname to Peltz.
“This is a family who feel they have lost their precious boy – and see no way back.”
This isn’t the first time that family tensions arose. While at her £3 million wedding in 2022, Nicola chose a Valentino gown over a dress made by her fashion designer mother-in-law Victoria. For her vow renewal, Nicola wore her mother Claudia’s wedding gown from 1985. She completed the look with the original £1.3 million ring.
Three years after their original wedding, the couple picked Nelson’s Westchester estate in New York as their setting. In a shared Instagram post from the event, the couple wrote “only love.” They also shared a TikTok of their laid-back proposal, set to a Ysabelle Cuevas track featuring the lyric: “Lost in your eyes.”
Brooklyn, who wore a suit with no tie, called the ceremony a “really beautiful experience” which was all about creating a “really cute memory” they would treasure forever. But this was certainly not the same for his parents, who already had issues with the Peltz clan before the original wedding.
The Beckhams claim Nicola was a “bridezilla” and hard work, while the Peltzes say their in-laws are “tight”.
Earlier this year, Brooklyn and Nicola skipped the former Man United star’s 50th birthday celebrations.
More recently, he reversed his story about the inspiration for his Cloud-23 hot sauce brand – now claiming the name comes from the day he proposed to his American actress wife. Last year, however, he had said it was a tribute to the shirt number worn by his father, who was a major investor in the business.
