Ahead of the much-anticipated Netflix Stranger Things Season 5 three-parter farewell, unexpected news shook the fandom. The Daily Mail reported that breakout star Millie Bobby Brown filed bullying and harassment allegations against David Harbour before the production began on the finale with “pages and pages of accusations.”
Around the same time this news broke on the internet, Esquire published an exclusive interview with David Harbour, where he discussed his acting journey, life lessons, and, of course, the impending Stranger Things showdown. Harbour also reflected on the challenges of “young fame”, something the Stranger Things cast found at an early age.
“I think the problem with young fame is that it’s very exciting, you know? It’s very exciting to have people think you’re a genius, but you don’t really want to be a genius at 11 years old. Any sort of protégé… I mean, look at what happened to Mozart or whatever. It’s not a long life,” he said.
He expressed hope for the young cast’s successful careers, saying, “I would love to see Gaten [Matarazzo] play King Lear when he’s 70 years old, I would like to see those kinds of careers out of them. And that’s my own selfish desire for them to explore their artistry and their instruments to the fullest of their potential.”
Evidently, Harbour hopes only success for everyone, hinting at no strained relationships. Notably, neither Netflix nor any parties involved have issued official statements, so the complaint may be taken with a grain of salt. Although vigilant fans scoured the internet, claiming Brown hinted at this rumored feud long ago in a video.
If true, this could have major implications for how Stranger Things is perceived among fans. For now, fans will have to wait.
Stranger Things Season 5 will be released on Netflix in three parts: Volume 1 (Episodes 1-4) will stream on November 26, 2025, Volume 2 (Episodes 5-7) will drop on December 25, 2025, and the Finale (Episode 8) will arrive on December 31, 2025.
