The upcoming Netflix limited series “Death by Lightning” has set its premiere date.
The four-episode drama will drop on the streaming service on Nov. 6. As previously announced, the series stars Matthew Macfadyen and Michael Shannon, which will tell the story of U.S. President James Garfield (Shannon) and his assassination by Charles Guiteau (Macfadyen). It is based on the novel “Destiny Of The Republic” by Candice Millard.

Along with Shannon and Macfadyen, the cast includes Nick Offerman as Chester Arthur, Bradley Whitford as James Blaine, Shea Whigham as Roscoe Conkling), and Betty Gilpin as Crete Garfield.
The guest cast includes: Alistair Petrie, Archie Fisher, Barry Shabaka Henley, Ben Miles, Kyle Soller, Laura Marcus, Paula Malcomson, Shaun Parkes, Tuppence Middleton, Vondie Curtis Hall, and Željko Ivanek.
Mike Makowsky is the creator of “Death by Lightning” and will also serve as writer and an executive producer. “Game of Thrones” creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss also executive produce via Bighead Littlehead Productions along with Bernie Caulfield. Matt Ross will executive produce and direct all episodes.
Shannon has recently starred in TV series such as “George & Tammy” (for which he received an Emmy nomination), “Waco” and “Waco: The Aftermath,” and “Nine Perfect Strangers.” Macfadyen won two consecutive Emmy Awards for best supporting actor in a drama for his work on the hit HBO series “Succession.” He was nominated in the same category for that series in 2020 as well. His work on “Succession” also won him a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award.
