Deborra Lee Furness ‘furious’ after Hugh Jackman refuses prenup amid marriage talks with Sutton Foster

It seems the calm between Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness may not be lasting.

New reports claim tensions are brewing behind the scenes, with inside sources pointing to one major sticking point — the possibility of a prenup ahead of Hugh’s rumoured second marriage to Broadway star Sutton Foster.

Despite an estimated $170 million fortune for Jackman, sources say the Aussie actor has no interest in putting a financial agreement in place before his second wife walks down the aisle.

According to US publication Globe, Jackman “won’t even entertain” the idea, reportedly shutting down conversations immediately and viewing the suggestion as “offensive”.

That stance is said to be causing serious concern and worries for Deborra-lee, who split from the Wolverine star in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage together.

Their divorce was finalised in June 2025.

Insiders close to Furness claim she is worried about the long-term impact on their two children, Oscar, 25, and Ava, 20, particularly if Hugh’s new relationship were ever to unravel.

While those close to the former couple insist Hugh would never deliberately jeopardise his children’s inheritance, there are fears a second marriage without legal safeguards could complicate matters down the track.

The situation is reportedly made more complicated by whispers that Hugh and Sutton are wanting to start a family of their own.

Jackman, 57, and Sutton, 50, confirmed their romance publicly in January 2025, months after he and Deb announced their separation.

Over the new year, the New York-based pair enjoyed a sunny getaway in Costa Rica where New Idea claimed the Wolverine star spontaneously popped the question.

“It wasn’t a shock to Sutton as it’s something they’ve been talking about,” a source told the publication.

It is believed Jackman, 57, and Foster, 50, have already begun searching for a wedding location, with the Central American nation a potential suitor.

Furness was spotted last month looking dispirited after news broke that Jackman and Sutton got engaged.
