“Daily Show” correspondent Desi Lydic on Wednesday called out South Korea for giving President Donald Trump a gift she said is “not helping” the situation here in the United States: a literal golden crown.
“What a lovely, thoughtful gift for our president,” Lydic deadpanned, then switched cameras for a mock one-on-one with South Korea.
“Hey! South Korea!” she called out. “What the fuck are you doing?”
Lydic made a reference to the recent No Kings protests that saw millions of Americans take to the streets to protest Trump.
“We have been trying real hard over here to gently steer our president away from the whole ‘king’ thing,” she pointed out. “And then you come along all, ‘Hey, President Trump, check out this cool crown. Try it on. Take it home with you.’ Not helping!”
She suggested a different type of gift that the president might also appreciate.
“Please, just give him a sack of money like a normal country and stop fucking up our shit,” she said.
