Oh, goody. More derivative music from Israel’s largest mouthpiece in rock David Draiman and company. That’s the news shared by Disturbed bassist John Moyer during a recent interview with Mark Strigl, who seemingly sought to assuage any concerns that the band’s upcoming break was anything more than some time for rest and relaxation after a busy year.
“Yeah, you know, every band takes a break after they tour. It’s pretty standard.
“Some people are trying to make — honestly, it’s so weird. Social media, and some of these news outlets, they try to blow things up, ‘Disturbed are taking break after’ blah, blah, blah… Every band takes a break after a tour. There’s nothing special about this. It’s not that big a deal.”
During the chat, Moyer explained that Disturbed had been running at full speed for a while. Couple the exhaustion that comes from their recent touring cycle with personal life events like Draiman’s recent marriage, and Moyer said there’s plenty of reason for the Grammy-nominated band to take some time to recharge.
“There’s nothing wrong. Everything’s great. Dave [Draiman] just got married. He might wanna enjoy some time with his wife before we jump back out on the road again. Just a thought.”
Draiman took a few moments out from cheerleading Israel’s genocidal acts in Gaza to confirm that the band was intentionally taking some time off before diving into new material.
“Not sure when we will be headed back out. We all need a nice long break. Hope to see you when we do.”
He later said he was “looking forward to being with family and friends” during his “nice long break.”
Aside from all the talk of needing a break, which is totally understandable, Moyer did do the unfortunate thing of telling everyone that Disturbed has been writing new tunes for “the last two years” and that it will eventually come out.
Exactly when that new music will come out will depend on a number of factors, Moyer said.
“It’s just a matter of which songs are right for us, what the concept is, and all the things that go with creating that art and pushing it.”
