President Donald Trump has been ripped apart by trolls for his latest outfit choice as he gets accused of taking fashion tips from his new bestie, Zohran Mamdani
It looks as though President Donald Trump has channelled his inner Zohran Mamdani.
With the weather taking a chilly turn, President Trump appeared to have treated himself to a plush new burgundy scarf to keep the cold at bay; however, it has received a rather frosty reception online.
The 79-year-old rocked his new fashion piece paired with a black overcoat on the South Lawn of the White House on Saturday while making his way to Marine One. Trump’s critics immediately drew comparisons to a similar style worn by New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdami, 34, with whom he appeared to hit it off during their meeting on Friday (November 21).

Taking to X, journalist Aaron Rupar shared a clip of Trump speaking to the press, with the caption, “Quite a look for Trump today,” prompting an onslaught of reaction by other social media users.
One fan admitted, “I can’t stop f–king laughing he went fit shopping and got his hair done after his first date with a hot guy (Mamdani) DONALD TRUMP I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE.”
A second troll playfully pointed out, “He met with Mamdani and has started to wear turtlenecks lmfao,” with a third adding, “This is the best he’s ever dressed what the f–k did zohran do to him.”
“Yikes! Today, Donald Trump looks like a cross between Emperor Palpatine and Don Corleone!” chimed in political commentator Russell Drew, while someone else quipped, “I’m genuinely so flabbergasted at trump’s switch up in the past day.”
Trump’s fashion statement came a day after he met with Mamdami at the Oval Office. The meeting between the unlikely duo at opposite ends of the political spectrum was anticipated to be a turbulent clash, but instead turned into a surprising “love fest,” with the president praising the Democratic socialist and refuting major Republican attack lines against him.
Trump even went as far as saying it was “OK” for Mamdani to describe him as a “fascist” in answer to a pointed question the Uganda-born politician received about his previous descriptions of the president.
He seemed at times even protective of Mamdani, jumping in on his behalf at several points. For example, again, when reporters probed Mamdani to clarify his past remarks indicating that he thought the president was acting like a fascist, Trump reassured, “I’ve been called much worse than a despot.”
“That’s OK. You can just say yes. OK?” Trump added, explaining, “It’s easier. It’s easier than explaining it. I don’t mind.”
In one picture taken during their interaction, the president was seen gazing up at the 34-year-old, sparking speculation about the unusual respect Trump appeared to show Mamdani.
Trump was seen wearing his new accessory around his neck on Saturday while traveling to and from Joint Base Andrews, a military base in Maryland. He was inspecting the base’s two golf courses with golfing legend Jack Nicklaus in hopes of restoring them.
