Drake is no stranger to his music or information leaking, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t get frustrated about it. The 38-year-old artist called into Adin Ross’ livestream this weekend and expressed his anger over a song, where he dissed DeMar DeRozan, circulating on the internet.
Saturday afternoon (Sept. 13), cryptocurrency streamers Bagwork shared footage of them playing an unreleased Drizzy record while riding around in a car. The internet quickly went ablaze, especially given the contents of the song. “When you was part of the team we used to be planning our Mexico trips in the spring/ We must’ve been dealing in the spur of the moment/ Cause why (Kawhi) did we think you could get us a ring?” the 6 God rapped.
Those bars were layered, referencing DeRozan’s time on the Toronto Raptors before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs. They got Kawhi Leonard in return and won the NBA Finals for the first time in his one year on the team, a feat they could not accomplish during DeRozan’s run with the franchise. The Toronto superstar and the former Raptors hooper’s relationship has soured ever since DeRozan appeared in the “Not Like Us” music video and joined Lamar on stage at The Pop Out to dance to the record.
This record leak was exciting for everyone except Drake, as he teased it in Iceman Episode 2 and was seemingly holding it for the album. So it was not a shock that he sounded so angry when talking to Ross on his livestream.
“I don’t even know who the f**k those kids are,” he said during his phone call with Ross. “I asked you who they are. What the f**k?” He revealed that he was in Berlin and did not know what was going on. Time will tell what the multi-time Grammy winner does with this record, as well as all of his latest singles.
