Drew and Jonathan Scott have worked alongside many famous faces over the years, some of whom actually reached out to them first.
The Property Brothers stars chatted with guest host Andy Cohen on the Monday, June 1, episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. Jonathan kicked off the conversation by revealing that a friend of his currently lives in Cohen’s old apartment.
“My friend said the apartment was great, but you kept checking in on him months later just to make sure that everything was still okay, that nothing was wrong,” he said, praising Cohen. “So, you have a champion out there in my friend.”
Cohen thanked Jonathan for his kind words, stating, “Listen, I love that apartment, and I want it to be as great for him as it was for me.” Changing the topic to the brothers’ slew of HGTV shows, Cohen asked, “Do celebrities ever hit you up in your DMs for help?”
According to Drew, he and Jonathan get contacted by celebrities for home renovation and design help “all the time.” Recalling one message he’s received, Jonathan shared, “The one time this happened, I literally had to call my friends immediately. Cher dropped into my DMs.”
Cohen jokingly fainted in response to the revelation. “She had been watching Property Brothers, and she was yelling at the screen because the homeowners weren’t listening to what I was saying,” Jonathan explained, while Drew asked the audience, “Have you ever watched Property Brothers, and you’re yelling, ‘What are they thinking?’ She was doing that.”
Drew went on to share that Serena Williams also once messaged him about “wanting to do a project.” He added, “Also, when we did our show Celebrity IOU, Brad Pitt actually randomly just called Jonathan [on] his cell. He just wanted to come and smash a house with us. He’s like, ‘I love what you do. Can I just come and demo with you?’”
Pitt appeared on the very first episode of Celebrity IOU in 2020. The series premiere followed the brothers as they helped Pitt transform his longtime makeup artist’s detached garage into a guest suite/makeup station.
“When he did Celebrity IOU, it was amazing. And I know what you’re all thinking: ‘Yes, his hair smells nice,’” Jonathan joked of working with Pitt before complimenting the actor. “But he was into design and focused on the actual architecture of what we were doing. It was really great.”
Drew quipped, “And he’s strong as s***. I think he’s half god, because we did some little competitions, throwing hammers through a stucco wall, [and] he did not give up. He literally is the characters he plays, where he’s, like, a superhero.”
When asked by Cohen how many episodes of TV the pair have under their belt, Jonathan revealed that he and Jonathan recently surpassed 650 episodes, thanks to their current series, Property Brothers: Under Pressure.
“I know what you’re thinking. At this point, do they just give you a pity Emmy?” he joked, while Cohen stated, “I was thinking, you two must be so rich.”
