“It’s not just a fireworks show. We’re telling a story in the sky.”
LAS VEGAS – Fireworks fans across the country and in Las Vegas are gearing up for the 2026 International Fireworks Championship in Las Vegas, a first-year event expected to attract thousands of spectators to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday, Feb. 21.
The latest news: world-famous pyrotechnic designer Ricardo Caballer Mascletà is bringing a massive daytime fireworks and drone show to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway—and it’s all part of a live world record attempt:
· Representatives of Guinness World Records will be on hand for an attempted “Largest Daytime Fireworks and Drone Display,” a “mascletà” by Spanish fireworks legend Ricardo Caballer. The three main requirements to set the record is:
o A minimum of 8,500 successfully detonated shells
o A minimum duration of 5 minutes
o There must be visible contrast between the shells / smoke trails and the sky
· Las Vegas country band Desert Heat will provide musical entertainment between each competitor’s fireworks display.
· Las Vegas-based social media influencer and radio personality Heather Collins will host the event.
· A new ticket special for $59 lets fans pick the quantity of tickets and make their purchase. When the ticket holder arrives and tickets are scanned, they’re assigned the best available seats at the time in the grandstand working from the center out.
It is presented by BLAST! EVENTS, a pyrotechnics event company that has held similar world championship competitions in recent years for producers of the world’s most spectacular fireworks shows.
Unlike other fireworks shows, this fireworks competition features multiple elaborate displays throughout the evening. Four teams from around the world perform 12-15 minutes per show, with 15-minute entertainment-filled breaks between each show.
“This International Fireworks Championship won’t be like any of the fireworks you’ve seen before – even in Las Vegas,” says Bruce Tyree, founder and CEO of BLAST! EVENTS. “These are incredibly intense and creative displays, exploding lower to the ground – and they’re all highly choreographed and synchronized to music. It’s a full-on sensory experience.”
Gates open at 2:30 p.m. for the Feb. 21 event, with the first fireworks show starting about 6 p.m. The program concludes around 8:30 p.m., when a world championship team will be crowned.
