Fans of Dancing with the Stars are all in agreement over one frustrating detail of Season 34’s premiere on Sept. 16.

ABC‘s hit dancing competition show kicked off its 20th anniversary with a new cast, which includes Olympian Jordan Chiles, Alec Baldwin’s wife Hilaria Baldwin, conservationist Robert Irwin, and child star Corey Feldman, among others, who began their fight for the Mirrorball trophy.

However, as fans once again bashed co-host Julianne Hough’s outfit and an awkward blunder, others were in agreement over one aspect of the premiere: scoring.

Fans of the hit show have always slammed judges’ scores, but this season’s scoring already has them fuming, especially since a few contestants, who have dancing experience, earned shockingly low scores.

Hilaria Baldwin has dance experience, as does Whitney Leavitt and Elaine Hendrix, who said she danced professionally until she was hit by a car. Meanwhile, Lauren Jauregui frequently danced while on stage as a part of the girl group Fifth Harmony.

Hilaria scored a 14, Whitney scored 15, and Elaine earned a 12. Lauren got a 13.

Talking about Hilaria, one person fumed on X, “Yawn boring. She is a professional dancer. Unfair.”

Another fumed during the show about Whitney, “I usually don’t care about dance experience especially if it’s from childhood but a professional ballroom dancer…… come on #DWTS.”

A third said, “Half of the cast this season has professional dance experience but when it was chandler it was a problem.”

A fourth penned, “Mark and whitney pairing will be adding to my research on how the fandom treats her bc wdym someone with professional dance training is paired with mark and nobody is mad about it i thought this fandom cared about fairness?? or wait maybe it was never about that.”

Others simply fumed at the unfair scoring, with one writing on Reddit, “I’m bummed about the scoring misclick by Bruno bc if it had been 14 as he intended I think the scores would actually be about perfect. Whitney feels slightly better to me than Lauren or Alix, but not 2 points imo.”

Another added, “Everyone’s so good i don’t want ANYONE to go home (minus gleb sorry) but i feel bad empathy voting for andy cause it’s anybody’s game.”

A third commented, “Judges are so inconsistent with their scores just seems like they have favorites. I guess we do need CIA.”

Earlier, fans were fuming about a blunder involving one of judge Bruno Tonioli’s scores that didn’t make things better.

After Whitney and pro dancer Mark Ballas danced the tango, judges Derek Hough and Tonioli gave their scores.

Carrie Ann Inaba was unexpectedly missing due to an illness, and she was definitely missed, at least during the blunder that followed.

Hough gave the partners a seven while Tonioli gave them the same, holding up the seven paddle.

However, Julianne quickly had to explain that Tonioli had logged a score of eight, which hadn’t registered for some reason, which had Ballas and Leavitt laughing along with Julianne, who said she loved live TV.

Meanwhile, co-host Alfonso Ribeiro joked that “this is why we need Carrie Ann here.” He added, “That’s what happens when she’s gone.”

The moment had tons of fans talking on Reddit. One person wrote, “Bruno is so messy and I love it,” as another added, “I think Bruno meant to do 7 but accidentally clicked 8, and they have to go by what they click in.”

A third said, “7’s would’ve sufficed..gosh Bruno lol,” as a fourth penned, “they should’ve let bruno clarify his score instead of automatically up it,” to which someone else said, “Agreed.”

After the commercial, Ribeiro once again explained that scores are locked in and Tonioli joked that they “should lock me up.”
